Say  NO to

plastic bags

Did u knw tht an average Indian consumes 1 kg of plastic every year  while the annual world average is only 18kg.????

Go to the market place ..office,,school..home every whr v use plastic bags….but wht happens to these plastic bags??

It is here whr the  hazards associated  with thm come into play…

Hazards on land-according to researches plastic degenerates slowly ,all plastic sooner or later break  down into smaller pieces leaving behind plastic chunks or plastic dust as residue. These chunks  r nt biodegradable as their molecular structure is too large for micro organism to swallow. This characteristics of plastic causes serious environmental and health problems .

Everyday we disposes of 10 million plastic bags cause blockage of the drainage and sewage system of the city resulting in waterlogging ,germination of becteria which cause water borne disease…plastic  being non-degradable  also reduces the rate of rain water percolation ,resulting in lowering of already low water level in our cities. the plastic bags tht lie on the soil fr long stop the passage of oxygen, there by deteriorating the soil fertility and whn it burns it produces noxious fumes such as hydrogen cynide and other poisnous gaes.

Hazards in the coastal area-it might take ur breath away but true , more thn 100,000 whales seals, turtles and birds die evry year as result of congestion caused plastic bags.

Solution-

-Finding alternative suitable  material which has no adverse effect.

-Educating users on the right disposal methods.

-Encouraging the use of reusable bags made of traditional material     with the help of advertisement..

Taking the ground realities into consideration it is now solely up to u to say “yes” or “no” to plastic bags.
